Tuesday's camp was an experience for most of the team. The day started with a lot of rain. From about 5am untill 11am, the rain was off and on. When it was on, it was heavy. By eight o'clock we had about 1 inch. So the camp started in the community center. Thankfully they were able to hold the afternoon session outside in the park. Both the kids and the camp leaders were happy.

I was with the "Blessings Ministry". We started the day off visiting folks in a nursing home. They really appreciated our visit. Then we lead "Bingo" for them. One lady
was blind and yet played with help. A couple of the folks needed help
but most of the folks could play by them selves. The volunteers there
were from McGill Baptist in Concord and FBC Wilmington.
The young lady calling the numbers was from Concord and
she had never done something like this before. Her first
address, calling bingo numbers, but she learned that she
could project her voice and be heard by the whole group.
she did a great job.

This last photo from the nursing home is a lady who wanted visitors and really
enjoyed having someone come and visit herAll those we spent time with acted like they truly enjoyed having us to come by and spend the time with them.

After lunch the group went and had a visit with the County
Judge. In Raleigh we would call him the County Manager.
He allowed us to spend about 20 minutes of his time
explaining what 450 volunteers would be doin in Phillips Co
during the two weeks. He was impressed that 450 folks from
all over the country would come to Phillips Co. to help out
for two weeks.

After lunch the group went and gave out free watermelon at the
locally owned grocery store. The local children loved getting free
watermelon and several of the moms enjoyed the teenagers watching
their children while they did their shopping in the store. By that time it was about 95 outside
and the cold watermelon was really good.

Then at 5:30 we gathered together with all the different groups for dinner
provided by a local church, Delta Fellowship. Every year they serve us
Taco Salads. As usual it was a great meal, with a lot of fellowship.

After dinner we went to the Burger Shack, for ice cream or Coke floats.
A nice way to finish the day.
