Made it into Helena-West Helena (HWH) by 3pm CDT. Hot as usual. Yesterday the clouds were to the west, today the clouds are to the east. So today I won't get the 14 drops that I got yesterday.

I checked in with the camp leaders, picked up the keys and moved in. Not any work today, but tomorrow I make the run back into Memphis to get all the paper supplies for the dinners we have.

The missionaries, Ben and Leonora, who are on sabbatical get here tonight or tomorrow morning. Catherine Bahn has been the CBFer in charge of setting everything up and Mollie Palmer is right hand assistant. They were both interns two years ago, and then volunteered last year. But when Ben and Leonora get here I expect they will take charge.

The first two photos I send are the first two things you see getting here. Both you see from Mississippi, but both have a huge impact on HWH.

This the bridge to Arkansas. Built in the 50's I think, it freed south
eastern Arkansas to Memphis and another place to sell the crops grown in the Arkansas (AR). Before the bridge
it was a long way around to get to Memphis.
Now it is an easy trip.

But this is 2010 and several years ago Mississippi changed the rules. They allowed gambling. Along the Gulf coast and up and down the Mississippi River, they allow gambling as long as it is on the water, or that is where the gambling is suppose to be. The photo to the right is
the gambling casino just before the bridge. Statistics show that it is
those who can afford it the lease spend the most on such activities.

One last photo. Stateline Barbecue just over the line in Miss. Been to Helena 8 times now and the barbecue restaurant 7 times.
It is different from NC barbecue and not as good, but then I've never met any barbecue that I didn't like. This is an off shoot of Neeley's Barbecue in down town Memphis. He built this one for his daughter.

Tomorrow is day one of work. I'm back to Memphis to buy supplies as I said before. Hope to go and get back before the heat
get unbearable. Ann and friends from 1st Baptist get here Sat afternoon.
